Programmable controller technology has become the main professional course of electrical specialty in Vocational colleges. Combining with the actual situation of Vocational College students, this paper expounds how to improve the teaching quality of this subject through modern integrated teaching mode. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is an electronic system device with microprocessor as the core of mathematical operation control. Programmable memory storage program and Digital input-output interface are used to control various types of production machinery or automated production process. It overcomes the shortcomings of traditional relay control mode, improves stability, reliability and flexibility, and reduces power consumption and wiring repetition.
In order to make students learn more intuitively and concisely, the programming mode based on relay control logic is adopted instead of being too professional in computer programming. As a professional compulsory course, the content of PLC course is more abstract than other courses. The theoretical basis of vocational college students is relatively poor, and their enthusiasm for learning is not high.
If they meet with setbacks, they will easily lose their self-confidence and interest in learning. So it is difficult for students to learn this course. As an integrated professional teacher, how to effectively improve the teaching quality of PLC course has become an imminent key issue. Through many times of outgoing training and learning combined with my five-year professional teaching experience, I have some new methods and ideas to improve the integrated teaching effect of this course. For learning a new course, the most important thing is to cultivate students’interest and hobbies. Only if students are interested, they will take the initiative to learn, and gradually enter the ocean of PLC learning. The theory of PLC course is relatively strong, especially the basic knowledge and professional terminology, such as various programming instructions, trapezoidal diagrams and programming methods, which have just come into contact with. For beginners, it is very likely that they will lose interest and confidence in learning in the first class. Therefore, in the first class, teachers should abandon the traditional theoretical teaching mode and replace it with a novel integrated teaching mode. While teaching theoretical knowledge, they should show the various functions of PLC to students.
For example, using the external demonstration model of PLC produced by former students to demonstrate; using touch screen to produce some intuitive pictures for students to watch. This can arouse the curiosity of most students and lay a solid foundation for cultivating good interest in learning. Vocational college students’theoretical learning ability is poor, but their practical ability is high, and their creative thinking ability is good.
Our teachers should make full use of these advantages of students and combine advanced multimedia teaching methods to complete our teaching. Using the integrated teaching mode to teach, let the students really achieve “learning to do, learning to do”, a good combination of tedious but indispensable theoretical knowledge and experimental operation learning. The syllabus is the guide of a course teaching, but the traditional syllabus has not adapted to the present teaching mode and students’condition.
Therefore, we should improve or even rewrite the syllabus according to the current situation. In the process of compiling, we should first delete the old knowledge points and add more new knowledge according to the actual development of industrial production, so that students’knowledge and skills can be in line with the actual situation. In fact, we should consider the current situation of students, adjust the class hours appropriately, and reduce some boring theoretical class hours. Adding some operation training courses with high learning interest to students; finally, adjusting the syllabus in time according to the teaching effect feedback from students every year. Although teaching mostly relies on teachers’explanations, students still have the most contact with professional textbooks, many problems they need to solve, so textbooks are also very important. For integrated teaching, textbooks should be prepared independently according to different majors and students’ situations. In the past, when we used the traditional textbooks of Higher Vocational colleges, only 40% of the students in each class could study conscientiously, but after using the school-based textbooks we compiled ourselves, this percentage doubled, because the self-developed textbooks can remove the disadvantages of the past teaching process very well, instead of the various projects that the students prefer to do, it is obvious that the project-based teaching method is adopted.
Let students have a sense of achievement in the process of learning, and rebuild self-confidence. In order to keep the self-compiled textbooks advanced, we should revise the textbooks timely and repeatedly according to the results of students’feedback and the problems found in personal teaching process. At present, most enterprises adopt the production line mode, which requires multi-person and multi-position cooperation to complete the production task. However, the learning mode of students in our school is still individual, individual, and can not adapt to the requirements of work quickly after graduation.
So in the process of teaching, we should adopt the mode of group cooperative learning of integrated teaching, which consists of 5-8 working groups. Each student has his own responsibility. If only he has completed his own task, without considering the progress and ideas of other members, the final completion is still an unqualified project.
Therefore, we should exercise their sense of teamwork from the student stage, thermostatic element help each other, discuss and solve problems together, and cultivate their sense of position, and fulfill their responsibilities in a quality and quantity manner.
Teachers can also impart some work experience to students, which can also improve the efficiency of students’learning and work. Before teaching each lesson, we should make full preparations.
On the basis of familiarity with the teaching materials and according to the teaching requirements, we should design a happy and relaxed integrated curriculum. On the subject in question, we should verify it many times in advance. Only the result of the experiment is accurate knowledge, can students avoid detours.
Teachers should use their spare time to improve their professional and technical abilities so that they can teach students by hand. For example, in the teaching of vending machine programming project, teachers themselves should write and verify the program many times in advance. Only in this way, when students programming problems occur, teachers can quickly and clearly explain to students. Teachers should also use their teaching experience to innovate and lead students to design and make some external verification simulation models of common systems controlled by PLC.
With the intuitive physical model, students can easily grasp knowledge points in the process of learning, and ideas will be clearer. The process of making model itself is also a way to exercise students’comprehensive skills, which not only improves students’ synthesis. Skills also improve students’interest in learning and rebuild their self-confidence in learning. Therefore, only when teachers get in and understand more and put their minds on teaching, can they give students a better integrated course. Only in this way can we really improve the quality and effect of the teaching of programmable controller.
