Two-axis motion controller is a simple control unit which can realize automatic control. It has simple operation, easy to use, can realize point motion and linear interpolation operation, and has multiple IO interfaces. It can realize the perception and control of external equipment.
It is a sharp tool for beginners to learn automatic control. In order to adapt to the characteristics of today’s industrial manufacturing and reflect the professional advantages of our modern processing and manufacturing group, we decided to develop an experimental platform for automated teaching and research after the professional group teaching and research conference. Considering that the professional teachers are not professional in automation control, when choosing the brain of the control system (programmable control part), instead of the popular PLC (programmable controller), they chose the TC55 two-axis motion controller produced by Beijing Dopplcom Automation Co., Ltd.

The movement of two axes can realize the operation of point position and line interpolation, at the same time, it can realize the setting of parameters, the editing management of manual operation and program and the characteristics of automatic processing. In addition, there are multiple external IO interfaces to realize the perception and control of external devices. Because this is an automated experimental platform, thermostatic element not for a product professional equipment, so the modular design idea is adopted in the design. This experimental platform is mainly divided into the following two basic modules. Module 1 control part: The control module is composed of a control cabinet.
Firstly, TC55 two-axis controller is installed on the control cabinet door (as shown in Fig. 1). It is the brain of the whole system, which converts the written instructions into system language and transmits them to an executive component.
In addition, it has the ability to perceive external conditions and make corresponding changes according to the changes of external conditions. Secondly, the cabinet is equipped with a 24V switching power supply, which is equivalent to the heart of the system to provide power for the whole system. In order to drive the motion of the control axis, a part-in motor driver is also installed. It converts the instructions from the two-axis motion controller into electrical impulse and direction signals subdivided by the driver. The driving part-in motor rotates an angle in a certain direction precisely to realize the precise linear displacement of the sliding platform of a certain control axis. In addition, special junction boards and terminals are installed in the control cabinet for the convenience of connection between the external equipment and the internal system, which are used to connect the equipment. At the same time, the cabinet also has extra space for installing other control equipment to achieve more axis motion control and external equipment control. Module 2: At present, this part only has the function of X-axis. It can only realize the accurate displacement control of X-axis and carry a pneumatic component controlled by a pneumatic circuit. This part is mainly composed of base guide rail, ball screw support and worktable. The automatic feeding function of the workpiece can be completed by installing the workpiece on the worktable and clamping it with the action of the cylinder on the worktable. Application in automatic pipe cutting machine. For some workpieces with high precision requirement of pipe cutting length, common cutting methods can not meet the requirement of drawing accuracy (the error is usually 0.5MM-1MM). If the experimental platform is combined with the common pipe cutting machine and the pneumatic control elements of the corresponding pneumatic circuit are installed, the high-precision pipe cutting operation can be achieved (its accuracy can reach 0.05MM-0.1MM). Pipe 6 is driven by the worktable to move to the right by the clamping cylinder 5 on the worktable. When the detection switch 4 is touched, the worktable stops moving and the clamping cylinder 2 installed on the cutting machine acts to clamp the workpiece. Then the cutting head action cylinder starts to work. When the cutting head goes down to the minimum switch, the cutting head stops and the cutting head action cylinder retracts to the position switch at the initial position. The clamping cylinder 2 on the cutting machine is disconnected to loosen the pipe fittings. The cut-off pipe falls by its own weight to loosen the detection switch 4.
When the motion controller receives the change of the status of the detection switch 4, it sends out the action of repeating the above instructions to the executive part, thus completing the next cutting action. This experimental platform enables the students who have never seen the automatic control equipment in our school to experience the effect of automation on modern production. Convenient and fast, at the same time, let our teachers and students to the pneumatic circuit, control circuit and other related knowledge and application have a basis for learning and practice. It can also become a teaching tool to play a greater role in future teaching.
